Adobe releases App for iPhone and iPad

Adobe has released its own version of Reader for iOS devices including the iPad and the iPhone.  There are already a lot of pdf reading products out there including, Goodreader and iAnnotate PDF.  Some of these allow you to make notes and changes.  Adobe’s Reader basically just allows you to view PDFS, but it is the fastest app I have used to do so. 

 

Pros:  Superfast, Clean, and Easy to Use. 

 

Cons:  No Bookmarks, notes or markup.

 

Cost: Free

 

Maybe Adobe Plans on coming out with a Pro paid version of this app, just like its desktop products. 

Problems with Adobe with 64bit Outlook

I have the 64bit edition of Outlook 2010 and Adobe Pro 9.0.  Sometimes in Adobe I want to send a pdf.  When I attempted to do this, I would get the following error message:

Run REGEDIT and goto:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail]

Right-click and create a new key called Outlook64Bridge

Then right-click Outlook64Bridge and create two keys under it DLLPath and DLLPathEx

 

Find the 32 bit version of the file MAPI32.dll and assign the whole qualified pathname to each key, mine were:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Outlook64Bridge\DLLPath

"D:\WINDOWS\system32\mapi32.dll"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Outlook64Bridge\DLLPathEx

"D:\WINDOWS\system32\mapi32.dll"

 

 

Then go back to the root key name and show the default client as Outlook64Bridge

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail

"Outlook64Bridge"

Adobe Store Rocks, Upgrades and Bates Stamping

Adobe Acrobat 6.x, 7.x or 8.x Standard or Professional, can be upgrade to the Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional for $159.

Adobe Professional must be used to do Bates Stamping, so most attorneys will need the pro.

Fujitsu ScanSnap

Its a scanner with a small imprint that duplexes (double sided scanning) at 18 pages per minute.  I used to recommend the Visioneer Documate Series which actually had a faster scan time.  What makes the ScanSnap so good is that it scans directly into Adobe Acrobat unlike the Documate which goes into paperport and then allows you to save the document as a pdf.  When you scan your documents in the ScanSnap, it will open them up in Adobe for you to review.  Anyone who uses Timematters or Worldox can appreciate how this helps create a paperless office, because most document and practice management programs hook directly into Adobe.  What is even better is that the ScanSnap comes with Adobe Standard which would cost you an additional $299.00 if you were to purchase it new . The scanner also comes with ScanSnap Organizer which OCRs the pdfs so they are text searchable.  You always want to make your documents text searchable, so they are easier to find.  If you have not been using OCR, wait to my post in a couple of days about ABBYY Recognition Server.  The ScanSnap also comes with ABBYY FineReader which allows you to scan directly into Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.  The S500 is out right now and you can get of for 479.99 from CDW.  I know they have a version that can be powered directly by two usb cables which makes this scanner ideal for road warriors.  You can scan under 200 dpi which is required for some e-filing.  We hope to get one soon to start doing demos with it.
